Water Dynamics Laboratory

The Water Dynamics Laboratory (WDL) makes use of water research from the Utah Water Research Laboratory (UWRL) and from Utah State's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Biological and Irrigation Engineering, College of Agriculture, College of Natural Resources and College of Science to develop new products and services to solve water issues.

Goals

  1. Develop or aid in developing policies, management strategies and tactics for addressing water, environment, and related health and security issues for a range of problem scales: individual sites, facilities consisting of many sites, districts, regions, states, and nations.
  2. Develop the above, and cause their implementation using a variety of techniques as appropriate:
    • Data collected from documents, field, and remote sensing
    • Computer simulation models
    • Physical scale models
    • Mathematical optimization
    • Information management, including geographical information systems
    • Client decision making aided by mediation, persuasion, alternative dispute resolution
  3. Implement or aid in implementing policies, strategies and through WDL personnel.
